1. Where are you from?

Originally, I am from Canada but I've been living as an expat for quite some time – New York, London, Dubai and now the Cayman Islands.

2. Why did you move from the comfort of your homeland?

Although the long cold winters in Canada and the high taxes are fun, the Cayman Islands offers a nice lifestyle and a good place to raise young children all set on a backdrop of sunshine.

3. What made you choose Cayman?

See above. But also, it’s quaint while still being well developed and having sophisticated businesses operating through it (which helps it feel less remote).

Where are you from?

I am originally from India, I lived on the island of Sint. Maarten for 7 years before I moved to Cayman in 2009.

 Why did you move?

India being a huge, developing country has its own challenges. With its large population it’s a very challenging job environment. As a young jewelry rep I saw more opportunity in the Caribbean which is tourist dominated and has a huge potential for jobs in jewelry sales.

Also, the dollar conversion between the two countries makes a huge difference in your pay grade.

2. What made you choose Cayman?

It was like Cayman chose me. With over 7 years of being a sales rep I was ready to move up the ladder and when the offer to be the manager of two Jewelry stores came at the right time in life for me, it was an opportunity that I could not miss out on.

1. Where are you from?

I was born in England and moved to Canada when I was 6 years old, I feel mostly Canadian.

2. Why did you move from the comfort of your homeland?

I was not comfortable with the cold in Canada!

3. What made you choose Cayman?

When I was 18 a friend told me all about this place and then when I was 28, all the stars aligned and it happened.

1. Where are you from?
I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin

2. Why did you move from the comfort of your homeland?
I have always been adventurous, I had been moving around the States for the last 12 years but knew I wanted to experience more than that. When I got the opportunity to come to Cayman, I had only visited once before way back in 1998 but could remember how beautiful the island was and how safe I felt. I jumped at the chance and am so glad I did!

3. What made you choose Cayman?
I had parted ways with the radio station I was working for and the same day saw an opening at Z99 in Cayman. I applied and moved less than 2 months later.

1. Where are you from?

New Zealand

2. Why did you move from the comfort of your homeland?

I was following an opportunity to work in Australia and followed my heart and left the comfort of home. I pulled at that thread of opportunity and it took me in a number of directions, all vastly different from the one before. I had the chance to work in some great businesses and every job taught me something new that I was able to take to the next. Eventually I ended up working in the Maldives, Mozambique and now on the idyllic Little Cayman Island.

3. What made you choose Cayman?

Haha, I wish I could tell you it was a passion to work in the Caribbean, but the truth is that my job in Mozambique ended sooner than I thought it would and I needed a job! The position of Field Station Manager here at CCMI was advertised and I thought that it looked like a great opportunity so I applied. I have always had a love of conservation and the marine world – I am scuba instructor by trade and have spent most of my life in that industry, so this seemed like a natural choice for me. It also presented a new challenge and I liked the thought of that.

1. Where are you from?

I'm from the Caribbean island of Jamaica.

 2. Why did you move from the comfort of your homeland?

I moved to Cayman because I heard of a job opportunity over here, I thought why not give it a shot, Cayman isn't that far away from home for me, so I took the plunge and I'm glad I did.

 3. What made you choose Cayman?

Well, I like to say that I didn't choose Cayman, Cayman may have chosen me. I first experienced the island when I visited family there and I instantly fell in love. It's so close to Jamaica but it's like a whole other world.

1. Where are you from?

Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.

2. Why did you move from the comfort of your homeland?

Originally it was 11 years ago (2005) to come here and work as an accountant and escape the cold winters.

3. What made you choose Cayman?

Surprisingly, I knew nothing about the island before I moved and really even when I moved.  It was through the firm I worked with back home and my boss at the time had a friend who worked down here.  I figured I would give it a go, 6 months later I landed on the island not knowing a soul and haven't made it home since (aside from the few years I left to switch careers).
