9 Beachy Design Trends For Your Caribbean Home

Let's admit it, living in the Caribbean is a dream, so why not shout about it, celebrate it and fill every inch of your home in Caribbean-esque design & decor? Here's some gorgeous tropical designs I love that will inspire your gorgeous home by the sea.

1. Caribbean Colours and Finishing Touches

The turquoise of the sea is too beautiful not to be used as a backdrop in your own home. To get that real Caribbean feel, why not pair it with a bright yellow and contrast of pink. Choose sand-coloured accessories and accents to settle the colours and bring a beachy feel.

2. Hammocks & Wood Paneling

Designing a beach side abode? Go subtle with a rustic Caribbean theme, use neutral furnishings with rattan accents and untreated wood. Just don’t forget the hammock for all those lazy days when you're living the dream in paradise.

3.  Stylish Wicker

Get that weathered old orange floral chair with straying wicker strands on the armrests out of your head now! Wicker is making a serious comeback. Now think, oversized drum shaped chandeliers above an untreated wooden table, or a beautifully crafted wicker love seat coupled with chunky patterned pillows and lush greenery. This is now a Caribbean home must have!

4. Beachy-boho Furnishings

Bohemian-chic is a trend I am completely in love with. By mixing white-washed walls, low level seating and rugged untreated wood tables the bohemian look starts to take off. Why not add two dozen various potted leafy plants and layer multiple rugs to finish it off.

5. Pastel Accent Walls

Who doesn’t love pastel? Geometric shapes are easy to do yourself, so mix a soft pink, a gorgeous green and wallpaper to create an accent wall like no other. Finish off the room with touches of gold, grey and white.

6. The Beach House

Blue is the ultimate go-to colour for every house near the sea. Go subtle with loads of white and just a few accent pillows, pictures and an oversized area rug in the deep blue shades we see so much in the nautical themed homes. It’s a beach house winner.

7. Outdoor Bathrooms

There is nothing quite like the feeling of a good shower. Why not better it with an outdoor shower area with a sea view! Use rustic wood, an old steel tub, multi-textured woods and that all important opaque shower curtain.

8. Calling all Palm Fans

For a truly tropical themed home, use earthy tones for accents and furniture pieces, then splash out on the leafy palms! Introduce striking palm tree wallpaper for a bold tropical theme, or go subtle by placing a few palm leaves in a simple glass vase as an accent piece.

9. Anything Nautical

Rope, anchors, red, white & blue is a great way to highlight Cayman's seafaring history in home. Ahoy sailor, you're well on your way to a Caribbean-themed home, so get Instagramming.
